PRINCIPAL OF EDI
The principle of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) technology:
Translates application languages from completely different systems into standards-compliant languages. Example: UN/EDIFACT (United Nation Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport) the language is standardized by the United Nations.
EDI technology is a 'less investment' technology where business people no longer need to buy new equipment as infrastructure for document exchange, but continue to use existing equipment.
Main Purpose of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
The main purpose of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) technology is to assist business people in communicating their documents with other parties to be faster, more accurate and more efficient. The nature of this technology can minimize errors caused by re-entry and reduce the use of paper, communication, and other costs that exist in conventional methods, so that it can reduce unnecessary costs and is expected to increase profits for users.
If these processes are met, the company's internal business processes will automatically become better, planned and in the end business relations with other parties will be better too.
STANDARD EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
The EDI standard is designed independently of the communication method and software technology. EDI can be transmitted using various methodologies agreed between the sender and receiver. Included in this methodology are a variety of technologies such as modem (asynchronous and synchronous), FTP, e-mail, HTTP, AS1, AS2, and others. However, it is necessary to distinguish between EDI documents and the method for sending them.
HOW EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) WORKS
How EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) works has 3 main components:
Standard Message : Contains text (text) that contains information and rules (rules) as a translator of one or more business documents.
EDI Software (EDI Converter): Translator of standard EDI messages into the recipient's internal file formats. EDI software must be integrated with the business applications used.
Communication: Communication in EDI is certainly very different from our conventional communication. This is because communication in EDI is done through machines (computers).
Advantages of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
Time saving: Time used is faster and saves paper usage.
Cost savings: The costs involved are reduced because the EDI system simplifies everything in a systematic order.
Minimization of errors: Errors in the EDI system can be minimized because the system is already computerized.
Fast response: Fast response in terms of sending documents and receiving them.
Opportunities in business: The number of customers is increasing and they will usually only do business with suppliers that use EDI. Competition is increasing in starting new businesses due to the use of EDI.
Conditions for the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) process to run
Electronic transaction (refer to international standard format)
Scope of agreement (electrical supply service in the cooperative)
Third-party service provider
Electronic transaction conveys to the provider)
Privider proceeds to the recipient (spoke) by responding to the price and quantity of goods
System operation (maintaining and maintaining the EDI operational system)
Security Procedures (always follow implementation procedures to avoid problems
Signature, in the form of coding, shows identity
Free from computer viruses
Data recovery and retention
Testing
The drawback of this EDI is in its manufacture which must be specific and closed. The costs used to build this EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) technology system are not small.
SERVICES ON CLOUD COMPUTING
Infrastructure as Service
Services that can lease IT infrastructure. There is a grid for virtualized servers, storage & network. These service providers are Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud and Simple Storage Service.
Platform-as-a-service:
This service focuses on applications which allows developers to not think about hardware and focus on application development without having to worry about operating systems, infrastructure scaling, load balancing and others. Companies implementing this service are Force.com and Microsoft Azure investment.
Software-as-a-service
Services that focus on applications with Web-based interfaces that are accessed through Web Services and Web 2.0. Companies that implement this service are Google Apps, SalesForce.com and social network applications such as FaceBook.
